Play-Based Inquiry Learning

A. Purpose

Play is a powerful driving force that supports young children’s learning and inquiry. Therefore, a concept-based inquiry approach centered on play and inquiry questions is implemented. Through play and questioning, children express their thoughts and emotions, communicate with others, and develop an understanding of the world. Furthermore, concept-based inquiry learning helps children understand their own lives and communities, and supports them in growing as responsible members who care for both their local community and the global society.

B. Guidelines

  1. 01 Implement play-based, concept-based inquiry learning grounded in developmentally appropriate topics for young children.
  2. 02 Integrate the play-based Nuri Curriculum for ages 3–5 with the IB PYP transdisciplinary themes to design and implement concept-based inquiry activities.
  3. 03 Create a learning environment that fosters children’s inquiry and creative expression.
  4. 04 Respect children’s questions and ideas throughout the inquiry process, and cultivate the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning (ATL) through collaborative learning.
